Recreation Programs

Swimming Program - Updated 5/4/12

Memorial AquaVenture is set to open this summer.  Please see AquaVenture web page.                                                                                                  

Swimming lessons will be offered this summer, but due to the ongoing construction at Veteran's Memorial Park, dates and times will be announced at a later date, most likely in late May to early June. Please watch our website for further details. Announcements will also be made with the local media.

Classes will still be held Monday through Thursday for two weeks with Fridays reserved for make-up days in case of inclement weather. Cost will be $30.00 per student and is to be paid when registering.

Girl's Softball            Enrollment Form            Information Sheet

Sign-up for City Recreation Girl's Softball, ages 7-14, begins the week of May 7 through May 11.  Click here or above for an enrollment form or pick up a form at the Recreation Office at 309 N 5th Street.  Please fill out the form and either mail it in or turn it in, with payment at the Recreation Office at 309 N 5th Street.  Please print off an Information Sheet for details about the program.  This information sheet can also be picked up at the Recreation Office.

Cost of the program will be $15.00 per participant which must be paid at the time of registration.  Please be sure to register your child(ren) during this week.  Anyone registering after this date will be charged $18.00.

The girls will play their games at the Ta-Ha-Zouka Park fields on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings with Thursday mornings used for make-up games.

T-shirts and schedules will be available at the City Auditorium on Thursday May 24 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

There will be no refunds.  Please call the Recreation Office at 402-844-2014 with any questions

Kreative Kids

Discover your creative side by exploring the arts through writing, illustrating and performance!  Explore fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama with your own personal style and experience.

One session of Kreative Kids will be offered through the Norfolk Arts Center this summer.  It will run from July 10 to August 3

Children age 7 to 9 will meet Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and ages 10 to 14 will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Cost is $20.00 per participant per session. Each class is limited to 30 children.  Registration starts May 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Norfolk Arts Center, 305 N 5th Street until classes are filled.  There will be no early registrations.

Morning Tot - Lot

Tot Lot starts June 4 and will go for 6 weeks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  It is held at Johnson Park from 9:30 to 11:00 am.  Children ages 3 through 6, are welcome to attend.  children must be 3 by June 4, and completely potty-trained.  No diapers or pull ups allowed.

Programs consist of arts and crafts, playground games and fun for the lower ages. This program is free. Register your children the first day of the program.

Men's Basketball

This program starts in November and runs into February/March. Games are played in the City auditorium. Trophies are awarded at the end of the season. There is a $255 team fee for participation.

Women's Volleyball

This program starts in late October and runs through January. Games are played in the City Auditorium. Trophies are awarded at the end of the season. There is a $160 team fee for participation.

Coed Volleyball

This program starts in February and runs through March. Games are played in the City auditorium. Trophies are awarded at the end of the season. There is a $160 team fee for participation.

Men's Flag Football

This program begins in early September and runs into November. Games are played on Ta-Ha-Zouka Park ballfields #4 & #5. Trophies are awarded at the end of the season. There is a $220 team fee for participation.
